My First Year at Liquid

It’s always exciting to start a new job in a new place. And especially for me as I shifted to a different industry in a new space, working remotely as an Engagement Manager at Liquid, a Digital Marketing Agency based in Allentown, PA from Atlanta, GA.

I have a background in marketing and business development, but this was a mindset shift away from being a “traditional employee” to now working at an agency where the day-to-day operations are different. It’s a change in perspective. Instead of being in the seat of interviewing and partnering with agencies to execute marketing campaigns, I was now the one working with organizations and showcasing our digital services to fulfill their marketing objectives and be their agency of record.

Working remotely at Liquid has already been an unbelievable experience. It’s hard to imagine that I just celebrated my 1-year anniversary…feels like I’ve always been here. While remote working may not be for some people, as they need to be in an office, thrive off daily interaction and see people face to face, Liquid’s got a great environment setup for remote work. While I do miss the in-person interaction with my colleagues, we have daily calls and video meetings that help me feel connected. And, I have the opportunity to fly out to the office for company events and client meetings, which is really nice!

So, here are five main points I want to share about my first year at Liquid:

  1. My onboarding was seamless and smooth, and I have the most amazing support system with my manager, executive team, and colleagues. I was slowly introduced to client portfolios as I became acclimated with our services offerings and areas of expertise. AND, when working on client presentations to win an opportunity, the executive team jumped in to assist with the pitch! YES, YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT!  It’s not sink or swim here…it’s more like let’s stay afloat together. And they continue to help me with where I need support!

  2. Liquid is vested in my success! We all have a dedicated budget to use towards training and professional development, and in my first year, I was able to take a Women in Leadership e-certification course with Cornell University to support my desire to climb into management and a leadership role! Also, something I’ve never experienced before.

  3. Transparency and collaboration are huge among the organization. Not only with my business development team, but we have candid and honest conversations on projects to determine the best next steps. AND sometimes, a client’s project MAY NOT be the right fit, and it’s ok to say “No.”

  4. There’s a workflow in place that really helps from pitching to a client, winning the opportunity, assigning a dedicated project manager, and then coordinating the workflow to fulfill deliverables. We all work collaboratively towards the success of our client relationships and growth of the overall company. It’s such a different mindset and quite refreshing! (It’s nice not being surrounded by chaos. ๐Ÿ˜Š)

  5. The people here are madly talented! And I’m not just saying that. From the executive team to management to the strategists, developers, art designers and project managers, this group is the cream of the crop. Liquid is an award-winning agency, and it truly shows! I am blown away repeatedly by the quality of work produced! Every time I think they’ve outdone themselves…BOOM…it happens again. (What do I mean? Hit me up if you want to see what I’m talking about.) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our President, Doug Mancini, always says he wants Liquid to be the last place where people want to work. And while it’s only been a year, I feel like I’ve found a place where I belong, can grow, and thrive. I can’t wait for the next year and beyond!
