This November, Liquid Marketing turns 20. I have been thinking about how to write this for a few weeks. The simplest way to say it is that I have enjoyed this journey more than I ever expected to. I've had the privilege of building a dream with some of the most talented and loyal people I've ever known, serving clients who trusted us with their brands and their growth, in a place I love. Twenty years doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people stayed the course when it would have been easier to simply call it quits.
Where It All Started
Our story starts before Liquid. When we opened Liquid in 2006, it wasn't a startup learning the web for the first time. It was built on the heels of a company founded in 1994, where I started in 1995. Back then, we built websites by writing HTML by hand in Notepad. People got online through dial-up modems, and you could hear them connect. The browsers were Mosaic and Netscape. Most businesses weren't sure what a website was, let alone why they needed one. We were the pioneers of the Lehigh Valley, convincing businesses one client at a time that the web was worth it. That's why some of us have been doing this together for more than 20, and even 30, years.
The Tools Change, but the Job Doesn't
By the time Liquid opened its doors, the web was growing up fast. The iPhone was still months away. Facebook had just opened to anyone with an email address. YouTube was a year old, and Twitter was brand new. Since then, everything has changed, often more than once. We went through the move to mobile, the rise of social media, search becoming the front door to every business, marketing automation, and the shift to data and measurement. Each wave forced us to learn something new. Each one also proved the same point: the tools change, but the job doesn't. We help clients understand their customers, tell the truth about what makes them good, and show up where it counts.
The Biggest Shift Yet
Now we're at the start of the biggest shift yet. AI is changing how marketing, technology, and professional services get done. I've seen a lot of change since the Notepad days, and this is moving faster than any of it. Certain work that used to take weeks now takes days. That's exciting, and it also raises the bar. When anyone can produce content quickly, what matters is judgment: asking the right questions, understanding a business deeply, and being accountable for results. That has always been Liquid's strength. We're investing heavily in AI across our own operations, and we're working with cutting-edge regional partners to bring clients more than any one agency could offer alone.
We're Just Getting Started
The next 20 years will look nothing like the last 30. What won't change is why we do this. To our clients, thank you for trusting us. Some of you have been with us for most of this journey. To our team, past and present, thank you. You are Liquid. And to everyone who helped us get here: we're just getting started.
