20 Years Later, It's Still About the People

As Liquid turns 20, Executive Vice President Bret Ludlow reflects on what stands out most: the people, from our team to the clients who became lifelong friends.

Looking back over the last twenty years, there’s a lot for me and the rest of the Liquid Marketing team to be proud of and grateful for. Together, we’ve built something special.

But when I think about what stands out most over those twenty years, one thing rises above everything else.

It sounds cliché, but it’s the people.

The People Inside Liquid

First, it’s my colleagues at Liquid. The people I get to work alongside today and the countless individuals who have contributed so much in the past.

In an industry often characterized by frequent turnover and job hopping, we’ve built a team with remarkable longevity. And that’s no accident.

Many of my colleagues have been here for 10, 15, and even 20 years. Some have spent the majority of their professional careers at Liquid. And every person on our team today has helped shape the culture we've built.

Sure, we’re weird. But we’re also a bunch of genuinely nice, friendly people who work really, really hard for our clients and somehow always find a way to make each other laugh, even when things aren't going according to plan.

And I think that says a lot about who we are.

The People Beyond Our Walls

But the people who’ve made these twenty years so special extend well beyond the walls of Liquid.

They include the incredible people we've had the opportunity to work with at the brands we've served.

Over the past two decades, we've built relationships with people at some remarkable companies. We've worked through challenges together, celebrated successes, and developed friendships that have lasted long after individual projects, contracts, or even careers at those companies have ended.

And one of the most rewarding parts is seeing where those relationships take us over time.

Fourteen Years, Same Relationship

Here's just one example.

In 2012, shortly after I joined Liquid, I led an RFP process that we ultimately won. I’ll never forget it because it was my first really big new client win.

Their marketing team was filled with some incredible people.

Over the next several years, we did some great work together, but more importantly, we built genuine friendships.

Fast forward to today and we’ve just recently welcomed one of our newest clients.

The Executive Director leading that engagement?

She was the Marketing Specialist on that very same team back in 2012.

Fourteen years. Different organizations. Different work. Different challenges. But the same relationship.

And that's one of the things I appreciate most about what we've built at Liquid. The work we do makes a difference. But the relationships we build along the way often last far longer than the work itself.

If you’re looking for a partner you can build that kind of relationship with, let’s talk.
